Layer Design's Data Driven 'Go' Wheelchair

Layer Design is the London based Industrial Design Agency behind a series of remarkable design initiatives set to transform our lives and homes. Most notably the sensational Go Wheelchair. LayerLAB is the research division of the agency and it's inaugural project is the GO made-to-measure 3D-printed consumer wheelchair. Intelligently crafted to fit the specific needs of a variety of disabilities and lifestyles, the GO wheelchair features a custom form of the seat and foot-bay that is made possible by 3D digital data.

This use of data allows a user's biometric information to be mapped ensuring that their chair is a perfect fit for their individual body shape, weight and disability. This in turn reduces injury and increases comfort, flexibility, and support. With an accompanying GO app, the user can also participate in the design process by specifying optional elements, patterns and colourways.
