Alexis Arnold is the San Francisco based artist behind the 'Crystallized Books' project. Working with a variety of mediums Alexis seeks to challenge our perceptions of objects we think we understand and the magic of transformation. Producing sculptures, installations and a variety of 2D projects, Alexis works across the creative disciplines to deliver meaningful pieces that turn our relationships with certain everyday objects totally inside out. Specifically her 'Crystallized Books' a gorgeous and intriguing series that sees books turned into ancient artefact like demonstrations of beauty and nature.
About
The Crystallized Book Series addresses the materiality versus the text or content of a book. The crystals remove the text and solidify the books into aesthetic, non-functional objects. The books, frozen with crystal growth, have become artifacts or geologic specimens imbued with the history of time, use, and memory.
