Leikeli47 - Hip Hop's Masked Virtuoso

Updated: Dec 16, 2019

“They say, glad you made it, happened over night, damn you’ve changed I’m like sho you right” an infectious line from Leikeli47's 2016 banger 'Money'. The Brooklyn based artist mashes up funk, bass-filled hip-hop and audacious lyrics in her material, most notably in her track 'Money'. Despite the title suggesting some sort of egotistical rant about wealth, upon further inspection you'll discover that it is actually a triumphant anthem dedicated to an attitude of perseveranance and drive.

‘Money’ isn’t about currency, it’s about the work. The phrase ‘I’m money’ or ‘I got money’ means I practice, it means I study, I’m confident, I’m that action and I’m results,” Leikeli47 explains. “Real money don’t complain, we make it happen. Hard work and sacrifice can and will eventually lead you to whatever your version of the ‘good life’ is, but you gotta be money before you can see money.”

Leikeli47 can be recognised only by her balaclava and distinct Brooklyn accent. Her decision to shy away from the public eye can only enhance the focus on her sound and talent.

"The mask has nothing to do with identity. If I took the mask off, you STILL wouldn't know who I am."

- Leikeli47

Leikeli47 premiered “Money” on Ebro Darden’s Beats 1 Radio show. “Money” is the first single off her new album, set to be released by Hard Cover RCA Records.
