A great artist is someone who has an excellent sense of observation backed up by the uncanny ability to express their observations in a way that others can relate. Andi Best is the embodiment of this definition. We came across his piece entitled 'London Lunch Break' and have been smitten ever since. This piece is one of our favourites of all time, humorous, accurate and relatable.
"Working in London makes me privy to a lot of irregular and amusing behaviour; I call this the 'symptom of the city'. There are hundreds of examples of it occurring every day, but the one portrayed here is the lunchbreak ritual that takes place when the sun is out. Office workers will congregate outside for their hour's recuperation in one of the infamous hot spots - a slither of sunshine that manages to cut between the high-rise buildings. This illustration was a winning submission to the Londonist website's Sketch Summer In London competition which required entrants to creatively demonstrate the brief 'London in summer'. The Londonist team broadcast the illustration across their social networking pages and gained a huge response from their audience. "
