Material Objects by David McLeod

An exercises in colour, composition and texture, the Material Objects series by New York based illustrator and artist David McLeod, features bright and complex digital images. Described as textural CGI illustrations, the images are composed of various textural elements combined in an illusory fashion. The colours seem intentionally contrasted to further complicate the images. The collaboration of clear objects, half melted objects, the implementation of factors such as heat demonstrated through steam and condensation is all the more visually engaging. Each image creates a surreal experience - a trend movement we discussed in the Otherness issue earlier this year. McLeod's work is typically complex and he often creates pieces that play with the viewers understanding of texture and form. This series is a visual treat, view more of his work at Davidmcleod.com.
