‘Acid Bloom’ by Dawn Bey

‘Acid Bloom’ is inspired by a woman as an urban orchid. Orchids are symbols of both strength and fragility. They can survive in harsh conditions without water for long periods of time and still bring forth a fragile, beautiful orchid flower. In Chinese culture, the orchid is considered to be one of the four venerable flowers, as bestowed by Confucius.

- Dawn Bey, NJAL

Sculptural and vivacious, Bey's 'Acid Bloom' uses bright jewel tones, reflective textures and watercolour style patterns to produce a lively collection. Statement items all showstopping in their own right, the pieces use silk organza, holographic fabric, digital printing and laser cutting.

Bey's dedication to artistry is a far cry from her origins in Business. In 2013, Dawn moved to Hong Kong to pursue her passion in fashion with SCAD Hong Kong after completing a degree in Business Administration at National University of Singapore. Bey centres her creations around independent, stylish and brave women who want to stand out from the crowd and feel empowered in their cities and urban lifestyles.
