Louis Vuitton and Grace Coddington collaborate to create a feline-focused collection. Apparently there’s nothing cats don’t make better?
You may know her as Vogue’s flame-haired sweetheart and Creative Director at large. The Welsh ex-model and fashion photo shoot legend can now add Louis Vuitton collaborator to her long list of achievements.
The Fashion House is known for mixing their famous monogrammed initials with all sorts of creative icons including Jeff Koons, Japanese artist Takashi Murakami who is responsible for the iconic Multicolore and Cherry Blossom collections and most recently, Supreme. The latest chopped and screwed Louis Vuitton collab includes leather items, clothing and footwear. All embellished with various feline characters. Coddington is known for her love of cats and whimsical imagery so the lighthearted motifs come as no surprise. These collaborations churn out fresh and interesting reinterpretations of a classic brand that can easily fall victim to stagnation. There is also much to be said for how the world’s current obsession with all things cat related has influenced the designs - Perhaps this is a stroke of strategic marketing genius. The collection features some items that have a distinctly different aesthetic to the LV many of us are used to seeing, inviting a new type of wearer. One who loves their cats and doesn’t take themselves or their leather goods too seriously.
