'Rhombus' by Alicia Reina

Rhombus is a play on childhood building blocks. Derived from the simple quadrilateral whose four sides all have the same length, Rhombus explores the use of symmetry in the various cuts and construction of each piece. The elementary colour palette reflects the eye's sensitivity of relating colour to shape, thus creating and merging a visual relationship between two different dimensions.

The bright and retro inspired collection by Alicia Reina depicts a visual that has strong cultural links directly related to Reina's multi-cultural experiences. Born in Puerto Rio and raised in Boston the Brooklyn based designer has captured the colour and energy of her homeland and fused it with classic American Womenswear themes. The collection demonstrates hybrid fashion and is a physical metaphor for hybrid culture. Very much like people who have been raised with a strong culture in a foreign place find themselves fusing elements of their new surroundings with their old.
