'Metabolism' by Bolor Amgalan

‘Metabolism’ is inspired by the conceptual framework of 1960s Japanese architectural movement of the same name and explores the idea of connectedness of individuals within a larger system. Taking inspiration from Metabolism’s reconfigurable architecture, a similar sustainable approach to fashion with a focus on zero-waste fashion is realised.

Bolor Amgalan is the Sydney based, Mongolian born designer with sustainability at heart. Zero-waste fashion is the focus of the 'Metabolism' collection and features a range of garments that have been manipulated to ensure they meet the zero-waste standard. Whilst sustainability is key the inspiration for the collection can be found in the 1960's concept of Japanese architecture. The interchangeable and re-configurable pieces in the collection references this similar design strategy from the 'Metabolism' era in Japanese architecture which saw ambitious architects aim to create cities that were capable of growing and changing like living organisms.
