Balmain X H&M

Olivier Rousteing, you may simply know him as a red carpet staple, frequently pictured on the arm of Kim Kardashian, Rosie Huntington-Whitely and Kendall Jenner to name a few. However at the mere age of 25, this fashion savvy designer was promoted from head of Women’s division at Roberto Cavalli, to creative director of luxury fashion mecca Balmain .

Balmain has gone from strength to strength under his guidance, boasting a wide array of celebrity clients and an Instragram presence of over 1 million followers. Balmain’s Spring 2015 campaign featured military inspired and structured dresses and jackets and at Paris fashion week the ‘who’s who’ of supermodels like Kendall Jenner, Cara Delevigne and Joan Smalls were out in full force to support the ‘#Balmainarmy’. However the true buzz around this brand now lies in the collaboration between H&M and Balmain releasing worldwide on 5th November 2015.

We finally saw the first glimpse of the highly anticipated collection at the Billboard Music Awards in May, where Kendall Jenner wore a gorgeous structured embellished blazer and Jourdan Dunn stunned in a gorgeous burnt orange silk mini skirt and army inspired full sleeved navy top. It is evident that the collection will be reminiscent of Balmain’s signature style and in Rousteing’s own words, ‘I want to talk to my generation: this is my main aim as a designer. H&M allows me the unique possibility of bringing everyone into the world of Balmain’.

In keeping with the theme of reaching out to the younger generation, Rousteing has also created the hashtag #HMBalmainnation to encourage a social media presence and unity amongst the fashion concious H&M shoppers and elite and affluent Balmain customers alike. This collection is sure to instantly sell out so let’s keep our fingers crossed that the innovative Mr Rousteing has more collaborations up his sleeve.
